Fixture decisions decide welding quality before robots start
Welding fixtures and assembly jigs define locating accuracy, repeatability, clamping sequence, model changeover, robot access, and commissioning risk. A cheap fixture package can become expensive if it creates launch rework or slows the body shop after SOP.
Start with Assembly Fixture and Jig Package. If the fixture belongs to a complete body shop, connect it to Body-in-White Welding Line and Robot Welding Workstation.
What buyers should evaluate
- Locating datum, clamp sequence, tolerance chain, and part deformation control
- Manual, semi-automatic, or robotic welding access
- Multi-model changeover method and future model flexibility
- Tryout, correction, spare parts, and on-site adjustment responsibility
RFQ checklist
Prepare CAD data, weld point list, body process sequence, material thickness, expected takt, tolerance target, checking fixture demand, and whether the supplier should provide tryout and commissioning support.
